Shelters are being arranged in educational institutions where children stay during air raid alerts.
Seven schools in the city of Odesa and four schools in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region have already been provided with essential furniture and electrical equipment. This basic equipment makes it possible to organize the space, ensure lighting, provide access to electricity for the learning process, and create more comfortable conditions for children during extended stays in shelters.
This support is critically important for communities under constant threat of shelling, as it enables continuity of education even in challenging security conditions.
The equipment is provided within the project “Providing Secondary Education Institutions with Essential Equipment and Knowledge in Emergency Situations Related to Military Aggression in Frontline Communities of Ukraine”, implemented as part of the initiative “Strengthening War-Affected Communities in Ukraine Through Local Initiatives” (EMPOWER), funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) together with the European Union, and carried out by GIZ Ukraine.
