Life in this "city of the unbroken" is currently a struggle for survival: day and night artillery shelling and a lack of water following the occupiers' destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. Yet, despite all the hardships, the people live on, the authorities continue to work, and humanitarian foundations keep providing aid.
Last weekend, representatives of the NGO "Khart" visited an IDP shelter in Nikopol. Since early June, work has been underway here to install 90 uPVC windows as part of the "Together We Are Shelter" program. By now, almost all the windows have been installed. Work on finishing the slopes and installing windowsills will begin shortly.
During the installation, residents of the dormitory shelter repeatedly approached the "Khart" representatives to express their gratitude. The previous winter was harsh, but now people will be able to face the coming winter in warmth and comfort.
The work of the installation crews also deserves special mention. The team works from early morning until late at night, even during air raid alerts, prioritizing the well-being of the shelter's residents above all else.
The project "Equipping shelters to improve the living conditions of IDPs and war-affected individuals" is implemented by the NGO "Khart" within the framework of the "Together We Are Shelter" Program, executed by the East Europe Foundation with the support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund – OCHA.
